View Boston occupies the top three floors of the Prudential Tower, the Back Bay landmark that's one of the tallest buildings in the city. Reopened in 2023 as a fully reimagined replacement for the old Skywalk Observatory, it's now Boston's premier observation experience — and because Boston's skyline is relatively low and concentrated, the views from up here take in the whole city in a way no street-level vantage can.
The experience spans three levels. There's an enclosed observation floor with floor-to-ceiling windows giving 360-degree views — the Charles River and Cambridge to one side, Back Bay and the harbor to the others, with landmarks like Fenway Park, the Common, and the Financial District laid out below. An open-air rooftop deck lets you feel the city in the open. Interactive and immersive exhibits explore Boston's neighborhoods, history, and culture, and there's a cocktail bar and a café (the "Stratus" spaces) for lingering over the view.
It's a strong sunset destination, and a good orientation stop early in a trip — seeing the city's layout from above helps make sense of the neighborhoods you'll walk. Timed entry is typical. Its Back Bay location puts it near the shopping of Boylston and Newbury Streets and the Copley Square landmarks.
